Customer Success Engineer - Distributed Computing

Our client is reimagining distributed, spatial and scalable computing for web 3.0 and the metaverse. Their products have helped organisations including Microsoft, Epic Games, Minecraft, and the Francis Crick Institute to achieve the impossible and contribute solutions to global problems.

Their distributed cloud platform provides the foundations of web 3.0 applications for the metaverse, enterprise organisations, and the defence sector.

The role: The role of the Software Engineer is to deliver on the technical aspects of any customer rollout specifically around the development of proposed solutions, integrations, and other requested development. We provide a toolset to solve highly complicated, performance bottlenecked problems using distributed cloud computing, however, the implementation of solutions using these tools is still a complex endeavour. The Customer Success professional services team aims to solve these problems in collaboration with our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Representing our technical expertise in a customer-facing environment
  • Designing / Developing prototypes to support Business development
  • Write well-designed, performant, scalable, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Uphold good software development practices that include estimation, code reviews, testing, debugging, adherence to code standards, and seeking improvements across the entire software development lifecycle with the end-user in mind.
  • Review of and contribution to complete project scope and technical architecture proposals
  • Provide high-level estimation of work needed to deliver on proposed architectures for new customers
  • Assisting in customer code review and direct SDK integration

Minimum Requirements:

  • Demonstrated deep experience with C++, functional capability, and familiarity with Python, and ideally proficiency with at least one functional language such as Rust or Golang.
  • Strong proficiency with cloud technology fundamentals within at least one major cloud provider.
  • Able to manage own workload, resolve conflicting priorities, and deliver on commitments.
  • Confident using modern CMake or equivalent cross-platform build tools
  • Working cross-platform proficiency developing on Linux and Windows environments
  • Understanding of performance considerations, memory management, multiple processor use, and runtime optimisation
  • Strong technical knowledge of distributed compute sector including an understanding of the np-complete problem set
  • Experienced in rapid prototyping
  • Experience with distributed systems and network optimization
  • Ability to identify and manage technical risks
  • Ability to work independently, understand complex customer needs in a variety of sectors, and make sensible implementation decisions as needed
  • Must be able to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies and apply them to technological and/or business needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding, with everyone who works with us.

Additional Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Strong real-time 2D and 3D graphics skills, including linear algebra and key optimisation techniques
  • Knowledge of information architecture
  • Able to draw up architectural diagrams
  • Experience using Unreal Engine 4 or Unity
